Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA) is an 18-carbon polyunsaturated fatty acid with three double bonds. It is also called an omega-3 fatty acid, and is essential for all mammals. Alpha-linolenic acid (or omega 3 fatty acid) intake can decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases by 1) preventing arrhythmias that can lead to sudden cardiac death, 2) decreasing the risk of thrombosis (blood clot formation) that can lead to heart attack or stroke, 3) decreasing serum triglyceride levels, 4) slowing the growth of atherosclerotic plaque, 5) improving vascular endothelial function, 6) lowering blood pressure slightly, and 7) decreasing inflammation. ALA deficiencies can lead to visual problems and sensory neuropathy. Scaly and hemorrhagic skin or scalp inflammations may also develop.
Alpha Linolenic Acid or ALA is considered an essential fatty acid because it is required for human health, but cannot be synthesized by humans. It is in fact a plant-derived fatty acid. Humans can synthesize other omega-3 fatty acids from ALA, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA is a precursor of the series-3 prostaglandins, the series-5 leukotrienes and the series-3 thromboxanes. These eicosanoids have anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic properties. ALA metabolites may also inhibit the production of the pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and leukotriene B4 (LTB4), as well as the pro-inflammatory cytokines, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta). Omega-3 fatty acids like ALA and its byproducts can modulate the expression of a number of genes, including those involved with fatty acid metabolism and inflammation. They regulate gene expression through their effects on the activity of transcription factors including NF-kappa B and members of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) family. Incorporation of ALA and its metabolites in cell membranes can affect membrane fluidity and may play a role in anti-inflammatory activity, inhibition of platelet aggregation and possibly in anti-proliferative actions of ALA. ALA is first metabolized by delta6 desaturease into steridonic acid.

ABOUT THIS PAGE
A alpha Linolenic Acid manufacturer is defined as any person or entity involved in the manufacture, preparation, processing, compounding or propagation of alpha Linolenic Acid, including repackagers and relabelers. The FDA regulates alpha Linolenic Acid manufacturers to ensure that their products comply with relevant laws and regulations and are safe and effective to use. alpha Linolenic Acid API Manufacturers are required to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure that their products are consistently manufactured to meet established quality criteria.
A alpha Linolenic Acid supplier is an individual or a company that provides alpha Linolenic Acid active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) or alpha Linolenic Acid finished formulations upon request. The alpha Linolenic Acid suppliers may include alpha Linolenic Acid API manufacturers, exporters, distributors and traders.
click here to find a list of alpha Linolenic Acid suppliers with USDMF, JDMF, KDMF, CEP, GMP, COA and API Price related information on PharmaCompass.
A alpha Linolenic Acid DMF (Drug Master File) is a document detailing the whole manufacturing process of alpha Linolenic Acid active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in detail. Different forms of alpha Linolenic Acid DMFs exist exist since differing nations have different regulations, such as alpha Linolenic Acid USDMF, ASMF (EDMF), JDMF, CDMF, etc.
A alpha Linolenic Acid DMF submitted to regulatory agencies in the US is known as a USDMF. alpha Linolenic Acid USDMF includes data on alpha Linolenic Acid's chemical properties, information on the facilities and procedures used, and details about packaging and storage. The alpha Linolenic Acid USDMF is kept confidential to protect the manufacturer’s intellectual property.
click here to find a list of alpha Linolenic Acid suppliers with USDMF on PharmaCompass.
alpha Linolenic Acid Active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is produced in GMP-certified manufacturing facility.
GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practices, which is a system used in the pharmaceutical industry to make sure that goods are regularly produced and monitored in accordance with quality standards. The FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices requirements are referred to as cGMP or current GMP which indicates that the company follows the most recent GMP specifications. The World Health Organization (WHO) has its own set of GMP guidelines, called the WHO GMP. Different countries can also set their own guidelines for GMP like China (Chinese GMP) or the EU (EU GMP).
PharmaCompass offers a list of alpha Linolenic Acid GMP manufacturers, exporters & distributors, which can be sorted by USDMF, JDMF, KDMF, CEP (COS), WC, API price, and more, enabling you to easily find the right alpha Linolenic Acid GMP manufacturer or alpha Linolenic Acid GMP API supplier for your needs.
A alpha Linolenic Acid CoA (Certificate of Analysis) is a formal document that attests to alpha Linolenic Acid's compliance with alpha Linolenic Acid specifications and serves as a tool for batch-level quality control.
alpha Linolenic Acid CoA mostly includes findings from lab analyses of a specific batch. For each alpha Linolenic Acid CoA document that a company creates, the USFDA specifies specific requirements, such as supplier information, material identification, transportation data, evidence of conformity and signature data.
alpha Linolenic Acid may be tested according to a variety of international standards, such as European Pharmacopoeia (alpha Linolenic Acid EP), alpha Linolenic Acid JP (Japanese Pharmacopeia) and the US Pharmacopoeia (alpha Linolenic Acid USP).
