Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group has set three decision criteria for our corporate activities, "Sustainability [Green]", "Health", and "Comfort", based on our Group philosophy, "Good Chemistry for Tomorrow." We will contribute to realize KAITEKI deploying the business operations in the following three domains: Industrial Materials, Health Care, and Performance Products. In recent years, business environments surrounding us are drastically changing in all aspects. Precisely because of such times, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group considers that it is absolutely necessary to achieve sustainable growth without being influenced by the environmental changes. Under APTSIS 15, our medium‐term management plan for fiscal years 2011 to 2015, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group adheres to its concept of "Grow, Innovate, and Leap Ahead by Orchestrating the Group's Strengths," and attempts to increase the comprehensive capacity of the Group. In addition, we strive to improve our financial position and to reform our business structure by means of strengthening and expanding our business operations equipped with international competitiveness, as well as to improve our corporate quality and carry out other tasks. Moreover, we take actions to harmonize our corporate activities and sustainable development of people, society, and the Earth under the absolute conditions of achieving compliance and undertaking thorough safety management that is a matter of the highest priority for the manufacturing business. Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group sets "THE KAITEKI COMPANY" as our corporate brand. This represents our determination as the corporation to take the initiative to realize KAITEKI. All the members of the Group share the strong will that is built into this corporate brand, and take up the challenge to realize KAITEKI. On April 1, 2014, we established Life Science Institute, Inc., as the fifth operating company of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group. The institute aims to establish, at an early point, a basis for making it possible to provide healthcare solutions in the three domains of 1) health and medical ICT, 2) advanced medication and 3) new pharmaceutical development supporting industry. Furthermore, the institute will deploy its unique business model including medical information. Further, Taiyo Nippon Sanso, the leading industrial gas manufacturer in Japan joined the MCHC Group on November 12, 2014. We will increase the corporate value of both companies and proceed with our business structural transformation with the following measures. By incorporating the industrial gas business into the MCHC Group portfolio and concentrating the global management resources of the two companies, we will cooperatively utilize manufacturing and sales bases and supply chains, and operate in new locations overseas as a response to the shale revolution. We will also pursue synergies and new product development in the electronics and healthcare fields.
