Cardior Welcomes Dr. Orly Vardeny as Permanent Guest to the Board
HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardior Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biotech company developing non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, today announced the CE marking of its PCR kit which measures circulating microRNA-132 (miR-132) levels in the blood of patients receiving the company’s lead candidate CDR132L, an oligonucleotide-based miR-132 inhibitor. The company is currently conducting its Phase 2 clinical study, HF-REVERT (NCT05350969), to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CDR132L in patients with heart failure and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after a myocardial infarction. By using the CardiorHealth miR-132 PCR kit, Cardior ensures consistent measurement of miR-132 levels following CDR132L treatment across all clinical trial centers as an indicator of the target engagement and the compound’s mechanism of action.
HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardior Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biotech company developing non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, today announced the dosing of the first patient in their multicenter Phase 2 trial assessing efficacy and safety of CDR132L in 280 patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction after myocardial infarction (HF-REVERT). CDR132L is an oligonucleotide-based ncRNA inhibitor that targets microRNA-132, a central regulator of pathological cardiac remodeling processes. Cardiac remodeling is a debilitating and often life-threatening consequence of myocardial infarction that contributes to the development of heart failure.
HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardior Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biotech company developing non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, today announced the appointment of Dr. Russell Greig, as independent Chairman of its Board of Directors. Dr. Greig brings more than 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry from GlaxoSmithKline, with knowledge and expertise in research and development, strategic transactions and commercial operations as well as a significant track record as the leader of SR One, GlaxoSmithKline’s corporate venture capital fund. He joins Cardior as it prepares to enter mid-stage clinical development and further advance its broad pipeline of ncRNA therapeutics for cardiac diseases. Dr. Markus Hosang, General Partner and Managing Director at BioMedPartners, will step down from his current position as Chairman but will remain on the Board as its Vice Chairman.
HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardior Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biotech company developing non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, today announced the expansion of its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) with four newly appointed cardiology and RNA drug development experts. Johann Bauersachs, MD; Perry Elliott, MD; Gerasimos Filippatos, MD, PhD; and Barry Ticho, MD, PhD, will provide Cardior with important scientific, medical and development guidance as the company advances its lead program CDR132L, an oligonucleotide-based ncRNA inhibitor targeting microRNA-132, towards a Phase 2 clinical trial in patients with heart failure. The SAB will also collaborate with Cardior’s leadership team as it further develops the breadth of its pipeline of ncRNA therapeutics with curative potential. Cardior’s innovative product candidates address the underlying causalities of heart diseases including genetic cardiomyopathies. David Crandall, PhD, member since inception of the SAB, will step down.
HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardior Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biotech company developing non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, announced today the closing of a €64 million ($76 million) Series B financing round. The round was led by Inkef Capital, supported by fellow new investors Fund+, Sunstone, Hadean Ventures and Coparion with participation from existing investors including LSP, BioMedPartners, Bristol Myers Squibb and High-Tech Gründerfonds.
Cardior is aiming to slow or even reverse heart failure by inhibiting RNA that affects signaling pathways involved in cardiovascular disease.
Cardior Pharmaceuticals GmbH, a clinical-stage biotech company focused on the development of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) based therapeutics for patients with cardiac diseases, today announced the appointment of Rahul Agrawal, MD, as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Agrawal brings more than 20 years of industry experience from global and senior medical positions focused on cardiac indications, most recently with AstraZeneca and Bayer. At Cardior, he will be responsible for the further clinical development of CDR132L, a clinical-staged compound designed to selectively block aberrant miR-132 levels in heart failure patients. He will also oversee and direct the clinical development strategy for Cardior’s earlier-staged pipeline. He succeeds Dr. Wilfried Hauke who successfully led the early clinical development of CDR132L.
